The Giants jerseys 2026 guide shows which of these looks the team wears this year.

Red, then blue (1925 to 1960)

The Giants began in 1925. One history says red was the main color for roughly the first 31 years of the franchise, with red bodied jerseys, dark royal blue shoulders and large white numbers. That was the uniform of the 1938 team, the first to win two championship games. A blue jersey was usually an alternate for games against teams that also wore red. Winged helmets came in two versions: 1937 to 1938 and 1939 through 1947. In the 1950s uniforms were not standardized, so colors were sometimes switched between home and road.

The "ny" helmet and the 1960s to 1970s

In 1961 the Giants debuted the white lower-case "ny" logo on a previously solid blue helmet, the mark that fans still associate with the team. Wikipedia says the current home uniform is generally similar to the one used from 1966 to 1974, and the road uniform is a modernization of the 1956 to 1961 look. The team had a one-season khaki belt in 1960.

The Legacy years (1980 to 1999)

From 1980 to 1999 the Giants wore a navy helmet with a white facemask and a solid scarlet stripe, with classic numbers. That is the design the team now calls Legacy Blue. The 40th anniversary of the 1986 championship team is why the Legacy game on October 4, 2026 has a halftime ceremony. The team brought the uniform back in 2022.

Pants, socks and the "Big Blue" look

Wikipedia describes the Giants' jerseys as traditionally blue or red, or white with blue or red accents, with pants alternating between white and gray. The current home set is a solid blue jersey with white block numbers, white pants with five thin blue, gray and red stripes, and solid blue socks. That look gave the team its best-known nickname, "Big Blue." The road set is a white jersey with red numbers and red "Northwestern" stripes on the sleeves and pants, with solid red socks. The metallic blue helmet carries the "ny" logo on both sides and a gray facemask.

Special uniforms (2000 to today)

From 2004 to 2007 the Giants wore a solid red third jersey four times, and it was retired after 2009. In 2016 the NFL Color Rush program brought back a white uniform with blue numbers outlined in red, which the team now calls Vintage White. In 2026 the Giants wear Legacy Blue twice and Vintage White twice, and the Eagles wear Kelly Green in the Week 9 game. The Giants celebrated their 100th season with a list of the top 100 players in franchise history.

Giants helmet and logo history

The Giants helmet has had several looks. Winged helmets were worn in two versions, 1937 to 1938 and 1939 through 1947. A solid blue helmet gained the white lower-case "ny" logo in 1961. Today’s helmet is metallic blue with a gray facemask and a red center stripe, and the Giants and the Steelers are the only NFL teams with player numbers on both the front and back of the helmet. The Legacy Blue helmet is navy with a white facemask and a solid scarlet stripe. The helmet ny giants, giants helmet logo and new york giants helmet history searches lead to these marks.

The Giants throwback uniforms and NY Giants throwback uniforms of 2026 are Legacy Blue, the 1980 to 1999 look brought back in 2022, and Vintage White, the Color Rush uniform that returned in 2016. A redesign never replaced them: the current road uniform is a modernization of the 1956 to 1961 design. Read the Giants uniforms guide. The full logo story is in the logo history guide.
