The giant quarterback
The Giants’ logos have included several versions of a giant quarterback preparing to throw, a lowercase "ny" and stylized versions of the team nickname, according to Wikipedia. A SportsLogos.net summary says the giant quarterback stood over the New York skyline, then over Yankee Stadium, the team’s home from 1956 to 1973, and later over Giants Stadium, where the team played from 1976 to 2009. Earlier versions of the figure used a stiff-arm windup and a helmet with no face mask.
The lowercase ny
In 1961 the Giants put a white lower-case "ny" on the sides of a previously solid blue helmet, and the mark has stayed on the helmet ever since. SportsLogos.net lists the lowercase "ny" as the primary logo from 1961 to 1974. The Giants and the Steelers are the only two NFL teams with the players’ uniform numbers on both the front and back of the helmet. The ny helmet is metallic blue with a gray facemask and a red center stripe.
The Legacy Blue uniform of 2026 pairs a navy helmet with a white facemask and a scarlet stripe, and its side decals reproduce the older helmet look.
Earlier marks and the nickname
Earlier logos used an interlocking NY. SportsLogos.net lists a black and orange version for 1933 to 1935 and a blue version with white trim for 1936 to 1939, noting that orange returned in 1947. Wikipedia says a newer script was demoted to a secondary logotype in 2007. The "Big Blue" nickname comes from the solid blue home jersey, not from a logo.
Winged helmets and the 2026 Legacy games
Before the ny, the Giants wore winged helmets. A history found through search says the first version ran from 1937 to 1938 and the second from 1939 through 1947, with a single high point beneath the center stripe and shorter wing tips. For the Legacy games on October 4 and December 6, 2026, the Giants redesign the field too: the classic helmet design appears at midfield and the end zones get vintage block "GIANTS" lettering, according to giants.com.
The team’s Legacy uniform pairs the navy helmet with a white facemask, a solid scarlet red stripe, classic numbers, side decals and a raised wordmark. The inside collar carries owner Wellington Mara’s words, "Once a Giant, Always a Giant."
Logos and your jersey
A jersey carries the marks that were current for its style. A throwback listing shows older marks, and a current home or away listing shows the current ones, so check the style name and the product photo before you order. The Nike Game vs Limited vs Elite guide explains how the tiers differ, and the NFL jersey size chart helps you choose a size. Wear the Giants logo
The logo story is only half of the picture. Shop the Giants throwback jerseys for retro marks, the New York Giants jerseys for the current set and the legends jerseys for past stars. For the uniforms around each logo, read the Giants uniform history. Fans who search for "giants logo sf" or "san fran giants logo" mean the baseball team in San Francisco, which is a different franchise. Fans also search for “ny giants logo”, “new york giants logo”, “giants logo sf”, “giants new logo”, “logo giants”, “san fran giants logo”, “logo new york giants”, “new giants logo”, “giants football logo” and “giants old logo”. All of them point to the logo history above.
