49ers Super Bowl Wins: Seasons, Scores and Jerseys
Posted by JerseyZenith on Oct 27th 2026
- Record through Super Bowl LX: 5 wins in 8 appearances.
- Season labels refer to the team’s football season; the Super Bowl is played in the following calendar year.
- The MVP column names the game award winner, including an opponent when this team lost.
- Historical jersey colors are recorded separately from the designated home or away team.
The 49ers won their first five Super Bowl appearances, then lost their next three. Their title history includes both red and white jerseys, two quarterback generations and a red throwback look with white pants. Reading the season and the complete uniform together makes these eight games easier to tell apart.

Five championships across two quarterback eras
Super Bowl XVI supplied the first of the 49ers Super Bowl wins: 26–21 over Cincinnati for the 1981 season. Joe Montana was MVP. A second championship followed the 1984 season, with a 38–16 victory over Miami in XIX and another Montana MVP. These games established the first half of the franchise's title story.
The team then beat Cincinnati 20–16 in XXIII and Denver 55–10 in XXIV, completing the 1988 and 1989 seasons. Jerry Rice was MVP against Cincinnati; Montana received the award against Denver. Those consecutive championships are a distinct pair from the earlier two titles, and the two Cincinnati games should not be collapsed into one memory.
The fifth championship came in XXIX after the 1994 season. San Francisco beat the San Diego Chargers 49–26 with Steve Young as MVP. That result belongs to Young's championship chapter even though the franchise, colors and several familiar names connect it to the Montana era.
The 49ers’ last Super Bowl win and the later appearances
The 49ers’ last Super Bowl win was played on January 29, 1995. Calling it a 1994 title refers to the season; calling it a 1995 Super Bowl refers to the game date. A historical display should include both labels to avoid implying there were two different victories.
San Francisco returned after the 2012, 2019 and 2023 seasons but lost each final. Baltimore won XLVII 34–31. Kansas City won LIV 31–20 and LVIII 25–22 in overtime. The first-five-wins record therefore describes an earlier point in franchise history, not the current all-appearance total.
Through LX, the correct overall record is 5–3. A later appearance can renew interest in a championship-era jersey without adding another trophy. Use the completed-game result rather than a season's expectations when attaching a title year to an item.
What the 49ers wore: red is only part of the story
San Francisco wore white in XVI and XXIV, red in XIX and XXIII, and red again in XXIX. White was therefore part of two championship victories. The first Super Bowl did not feature a red 49ers jersey: the Bengals wore black, leaving San Francisco in its white road set.
XXIX is especially useful for collectors because the 1994-season throwback uniform used a different visual treatment, including shadowed numbers and white pants. A standard red-and-gold combination from another season does not recreate that entire look. Compare the era's full uniform rather than treating every red jersey as interchangeable.
In the later losses, San Francisco wore red against Baltimore and white in both Kansas City meetings. Home-style or away-style colors do not explain the result. They help identify the appearance, alongside the opponent and Roman numeral, and should be kept separate from claims about luck or future outcomes.
Choose a look around the player and season
The main team collection is a starting point for contemporary options. Compare the 49ers away jerseys if the white championship look is your reference, then check each listing's actual edition and details. “Away” describes a category; it does not guarantee a match to the 1981 or 1989 season.
Browse the legends collection for a player-centered route into earlier eras. Decide whether the intended memory is a Montana championship, Rice's MVP game or Young's fifth title before comparing names and numbers. That choice makes the uniform research more specific and the finished collection more coherent.
Modern Nike construction, historical reproduction and commemorative decoration are separate product details. Read the listing for what is included rather than assuming a Super Bowl patch, old manufacturer treatment or game-exact cut. A tribute jersey can be meaningful without being described as an original championship artifact.
