Chiefs Super Bowl Wins: Seasons, Scores and Jerseys
Posted by JerseyZenith on Oct 27th 2026
- Record through Super Bowl LX: 4 wins in 7 appearances.
- Season labels refer to the team’s football season; the Super Bowl is played in the following calendar year.
- The MVP column names the game award winner, including an opponent when this team lost.
- Historical jersey colors are recorded separately from the designated home or away team.
Kansas City's seven Super Bowls connect the competition's first game with a modern run of repeated appearances. The four victories include three red jerseys and one white jersey. A complete record also preserves the losses to Green Bay, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia, rather than turning every recent appearance into a title.

The first championship: the 1969 season
The Chiefs first appeared in Super Bowl I, where Green Bay won 35–10. Kansas City returned in IV and beat Minnesota 23–7, completing the 1969 season in January 1970. Len Dawson earned the MVP award. These are the franchise's two appearances before the AFL–NFL merger took effect.
The first of the Chiefs Super Bowl wins therefore belongs to the 1969 season, not the 1966 season associated with the opening game. An early Chiefs jersey or historical photo needs the game reference to distinguish the initial appearance from the championship three seasons later.
That title forms a separate chapter from the later Patrick Mahomes championships. Combining them in the franchise total is correct, while attributing all four to the same quarterback is not. Dawson's MVP and the red jersey in IV remain important identifiers for the original championship era.
The modern championships and two 49ers meetings
Kansas City won LIV 31–20 against San Francisco after the 2019 season, ending the long gap after IV. Mahomes was MVP. The game was played in February 2020, so a reference to the 2019 champions and a reference to the 2020 Super Bowl can describe the same victory.
The next two titles came after the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Kansas City beat Philadelphia 38–35 in LVII, then San Francisco 25–22 in overtime in LVIII. Mahomes received MVP honors in both. Those wins make the franchise's latest consecutive championship pair.
The Chiefs’ last Super Bowl win is LVIII, played in February 2024. The two San Francisco victories are four seasons apart and differ in final score and finish. The red-versus-white pairing recurred, but the later game needed overtime. A display label should include LIV or LVIII rather than simply “the 49ers win.”
Why the full record is four wins from seven trips
The defeats were I against Green Bay, LV against Tampa Bay and LIX against Philadelphia. Tampa Bay won 31–9 after the 2020 season. Philadelphia won 40–22 after the 2024 season. LIX is Kansas City's latest Super Bowl appearance through LX, but it is not their latest championship.
The Eagles meetings split the results: Kansas City won LVII, Philadelphia won LIX. The later defeat ended the attempt to add a third consecutive Super Bowl victory. Historical totals should record the completed result rather than continuing a projected championship streak.
This is also why a list of recent postseason trips can look longer than the title list. Appearances recognize reaching the final; wins recognize taking the Lombardi Trophy. Kansas City has seven of the former and four of the latter at this cutoff.
What the Chiefs wore: the white championship exception
Kansas City wore white in I, red in IV, red in LIV, red in LV, white in LVII, red in LVIII and white in LIX. The white jersey in LVII is the exception among the four championship wins. Red appears in both victories and the Tampa Bay defeat.
The same color matchup recurred against Philadelphia in LVII and LIX: Chiefs white against Eagles midnight green. The different results show why uniform color should identify the game rather than explain or predict it. In both San Francisco meetings, Kansas City wore red and the 49ers white.
A modern Nike jersey can share the team's traditional red-and-gold identity with earlier eras while using different construction. Check the player, number and edition before attaching it to Dawson's IV or one of the Mahomes titles. A championship patch is a separate detail to verify from the listing.
Shop the reference, then check the details
Use the main team collection for a broad view and compare Chiefs away jerseys if the white LVII look is your chosen reference. The legends collection offers a route into earlier player eras without assuming every historical name is currently available.
For a collection or gift, choose between the AFL-era breakthrough, the LIV return, the LVII white-jersey title and the LVIII overtime victory. That decision gives the item a specific story. Then confirm the product's name, number, style and included decoration instead of treating any red Chiefs jersey as an exact copy of all four championship uniforms.
