Famous numbers in Browns history

Number 32 is Jim Brown's, and it is retired, so no current player can wear it. Otto Graham's 14 belongs to the first great Browns teams. Lou Groza's 76 honors a tackle who also kicked. Ozzie Newsome's 82 is a famous number that is not retired; since Newsome stopped playing in 1990 it has been given to six players, and Newsome has said he is not hung up on it.

Fans also search for Baker Mayfield and Johnny Manziel jerseys. Those are old numbers on past players, so check the year and style before you buy. See legends jerseys for retired-player styles.

Jim Brown's 32 and what fans buy

Jim Brown is the name behind the most searched legend jersey: fans type "Jim Brown Browns jersey" and "Cleveland Browns jersey 32" more than any other retired star. Because 32 is retired, a player can't wear it now, so a No. 32 jersey is a tribute to Brown rather than a current-roster style. Quarterback jerseys are the other big search, at about 720 searches a month for "Cleveland Browns QB jersey," so many buyers choose Sanders (2), Watson (4) or Gabriel (6) instead.

If you want a number with no player attached, order it on the custom NFL jerseys page and choose your own name.

Numbers that changed hands

Several current numbers have a history. Shedeur Sanders wears No. 2, a number fans searched for when he changed his number back. Quinshon Judkins wears 10 on ESPN's roster. A number tells you the era, not the player, so always match the number to a name.

Can you buy any number?

Yes, as a custom jersey. Choose any name and number on the custom NFL jerseys page, but you cannot buy a retired number as a current player's jersey. The NFL assigns number ranges by position, which affects which numbers a player can get. Our NFL jersey number rules guide covers those ranges. Start at the NFL jerseys collection for team styles. Nike prints the numbers on every style we list, in Game, Limited and Elite tiers.
