Bengals retired number and Ring of Honor
| Number | Honoree | Position | Honor |
|---|---|---|---|
| 54 | Bob Johnson | Center | Retired; the team's first draft pick |
| 78 | Anthony Muñoz | Offensive tackle | Ring of Honor, 2021 |
| 14 | Ken Anderson | Quarterback | Ring of Honor, 2021 |
| 13 | Ken Riley | Cornerback | Ring of Honor, 2021 |
| 71 | Willie Anderson | Offensive tackle | Ring of Honor, 2022 |
| 85 | Isaac Curtis and Chad Johnson | Wide receivers | Ring of Honor, 2022 and 2023 |
| 7 | Boomer Esiason | Quarterback | Ring of Honor, 2023 |
| 28 | Corey Dillon | Running back | Ring of Honor, 2024 |
| 69 | Tim Krumrie | Nose tackle | Ring of Honor, 2024 |
| 20 | Lemar Parrish | Cornerback | Ring of Honor, 2025 |
The Ring of Honor is a separate honor from a retired number. We could not confirm Johnson's retirement year from a team page; one source says after the 1978 season.
Dave Lapham and Lemar Parrish joined the Bengals Ring of Honor in 2025. Parrish’s No. 20 also shows how this differs from retiring a number: Cincinnati’s October 2025 feature discussed both Parrish and then-current No. 20 D.J. Turner II. A stadium honor can recognize a former player while the number remains in use. Ring of Honor membership is also distinct from enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Famous numbers in Bengals history
Number 14 is Ken Anderson's, 78 is Anthony Muñoz's and 7 is Boomer Esiason's. Number 85 has two famous owners: Isaac Curtis and Chad Johnson. None of these is retired, so a current player could wear them, though fans link each to one star. Number 54, Bob Johnson's, is the only one off limits. A number tells you the era, not the player, so always match it to a name.
Can you buy any number?
Yes. The Joe Burrow jersey and Ja'Marr Chase jersey pages carry current numbers. A retired number is a tribute, not a current-player jersey. The NFL assigns number ranges by position, which affects which numbers a player can get. Our NFL jersey number rules guide covers those ranges. For team-wide styles, start at the Cincinnati Bengals jerseys page. Nike prints the numbers on every style we list, in Game, Limited and Elite tiers.
