The 2026 NFL uniform ranking, top 10
Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick ranked all 32 NFL uniform sets on June 29, 2026. The ranking is opinion, judged on how well a look fits a franchise's history, how clean it is and how good the alternates are. The table gives his top 10, with our own short summary of his reasons.
| Rank | Team | Why, in short | Jerseys on our store |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Chargers | powder blue home jerseys and helmet numbers | 21 |
| 2 | 49ers | classic kits, clean throwbacks and a top Rivalries look | 42 |
| 3 | Cowboys | white home and blue road looks plus iconic alternates | 27 |
| 4 | Ravens | 2026 uniforms add new helmets and details | 11 |
| 5 | Bengals | the 2021 New Stripes system and White Bengal helmet | 22 |
| 6 | Buccaneers | sleeker look and popular Creamsicle throwbacks | 16 |
| 7 | Texans | strong alternates and primaries for a young franchise | 11 |
| 8 | Commanders | Super Bowl-era throwbacks as a primary plus a new black alternate | 12 |
| 9 | Dolphins | aqua makes the uniforms pop | 3 |
| 10 | Broncos | 2024 Mile High redesign packed with Denver details | 17 |
How other rankings differ
FanSided ranked 30 teams for 2026 and weighed alternates and throwbacks more heavily. It placed the Buccaneers first for their throwbacks and left out the Chiefs and Titans because neither has an alternate, throwback or Rivalries uniform. That shows how much the order depends on what a writer counts, so use these lists as a starting point, not a verdict.
Where the other featured teams ranked
These teams have their own guides on our site. Their uniforms landed lower in the Sports Illustrated list, but many have strong throwbacks.
| Team | SI rank |
|---|---|
| Bears | 18 |
| Bills | 17 |
| Patriots | 20 |
| Steelers | 22 |
| Seahawks | 28 |
Seattle, for example, was criticized for a dated 2012 redesign but praised for its throwbacks, and Buffalo's all-white Rivalries look stood out. Read the Seahawks 2026 guide and the Bills 2026 guide for the full lineups.

What makes an NFL uniform rank high
Sports Illustrated did not publish a formal scoring system, but its reasons repeat a few ideas: a uniform should reflect the franchise's identity and history, be clean and well executed, and come with alternates or throwbacks that fans like. Recent refreshes also count, which is why the Broncos' 2024 redesign and the Ravens' 2026 update placed in the top 10.
The bottom of the 2026 ranking
The lowest-ranked uniforms show the opposite. The table lists the bottom five with short reasons, paraphrased from the article.
| Rank | Team | Main criticism |
|---|---|---|
| 32 | Rams | 2020 overhaul left a weaker look than the team's history deserves |
| 31 | Jets | all-white throwbacks are the best option; Rivalries and Legacy kits weaker |
| 30 | Cardinals | oversized lettering and heavy red on the home uniform |
| 29 | Panthers | simple, largely unchanged designs |
| 28 | Seahawks | 2012 redesign feels dated despite strong throwbacks |
New NFL uniforms and helmets for 2026
Several teams changed their look for 2026, according to Fox Sports: the Bills added an all-gray Nickel City alternate, the Ravens introduced two new helmets, the Rams added Classic and Fearsome alternates, the Commanders redesigned their set and added an all-black Hail Raiser alternate, the Falcons returned to basics and the Titans paid homage to the Houston Oilers.
