Before 2005: Chicago, St. Louis and Phoenix
This franchise has moved three times: from Chicago to St. Louis in 1960, to Phoenix in 1988 and then to Arizona. We do not detail those uniforms here because we could not confirm them from a source we opened. The NFL called the 2023 change the team's fourth uniform change in franchise history.
The 2005 redesign and the third jersey (2005–2021)
New uniforms were announced on April 21, 2005, after a January logo refresh called "Cards Brush Up Bird." Arizona unveiled third jerseys on April 22, 2010, and revived a combination in 2018 that it had not used since 2010. The set stayed the main look for 18 seasons.
The 2023 uniforms and the Rivalries era (2022 to now)
In July 2022, Arizona revealed alternate black helmets. On April 20, 2023, it unveiled its first new primary uniforms since 2005. The home jersey is all red with "ARIZONA" across the chest, a first, and "Protect The Nest" inside the collar. The away jersey is white with red and silver stripes and "Bird Gang" in the collar. The black alternate has silver number outlines and is worn twice a season. Helmets stayed white with a silver facemask and a larger 3D bird. Reaction was mixed, with some fans saying the set looked too much like the old one or like Ohio State's.
In 2025 the team joined the NFL Rivalries program with a sand, copper and red uniform, which it debuted against Seattle on Thursday Night Football. For what to buy today, see Arizona Cardinals jerseys 2026.
Looks you can wear today
We do not have a dedicated Cardinals throwback page. The closest are the classic red home and white away styles, the alternate jerseys and the Rivalries jerseys. For the numbers behind each era, read the Arizona Cardinals jersey numbers guide. Nike has made the NFL's uniforms since 2012, which is why the modern looks above share a template.
Arizona today and the Ring of Honor
Arizona plays in the NFC West. The team's Ring of Honor includes Aeneas Williams (2008), Kurt Warner (2014), Adrian Wilson (2015), Roy Green (2016) and Larry Fitzgerald (October 25, 2026), whose careers span the cardinal red eras above. The Chicago and St. Louis looks that came before the franchise moved are not covered here, so this guide cannot describe the original uniforms.
